Floor time with the chickens!

Today we let the ducks and chickens onto the floor to meet each other. All went well. They pretty much ignored each other.

Ducky and Quakers are starting to get much taller!

Goose and Daffy are growing fast too!

Growing our feathers

Today we noticed that Quackers and Ducky were starting to get more big girl feathers. They are growing up so fast!

First time outside and a new pool!

Today the girls took their first trip outside.  We assumed (wrongly) that they would use the bricks to climb into the pool.  Instead they decided to run around it.

And around... back to the beginning.

Finally, we helped them in.

Lots of diving and playing ensued!

Water Saver!

Today the girls got wheat grass. It had to be removed shortly after because they decided to dig and make mud.

Bath tub to rid the nostrils of mud.

In order to save on water getting everywhere and stinking up the brooder, I created a water saver from a plastic drawer system.  The duck water saver has saved me so much work!

Cut out the top and added hardware cloth.

Now the water falls into the drawer and is emptied. The pine shavings stay dry!

Goose and Daffy quickly learn to climb on it.

Quackers follows right along.

Darwin, the American Bulldog, and Stormy, our fat cat, checks in with the ducks.

The girls are really getting used to the new pen and love the extra space!

Bigger Pen

Today the girls got a bigger pen.  We set it up so that Goose and Daffy have their own area, yet can visit with the other girls.  Ducky and Quackers do tend to pick on them a bit, but it's getting better the longer they are together. It's nice for the little ones to have a place to escape too when it becomes too much.

More Peas Please!

Today the girls got some floor time in their room.  Goose and Daffy went first. They were all but too excited to jump  out of the kennel and explore!

Daffy needs to rest after running around so much.

Looks like daddy is enjoying the resting time as well.

Ducky and Quackers went next. They could not be coaxed out of the kennel and immediately sulked as soon as they were out:
